Antonio Carlos Machado

A Long Life

Story Short...

My nickname is KIKO, and I am a Brazilian who embarked on the journey of learning English at the age of 12, entirely self-taught. I grew up as the eldest of three siblings in a humble household during the 1970s, a time when Brazil was under military rule. My father was an alcoholic and abusive, while my mother worked tirelessly as a housekeeper to support our family. Despite these challenges, my circumstances shaped me into a determined individual who never stopped dreaming big.
I have been divorced since 2008 and have been single since then. I am also the proud father of an 18-year-old daughter who inspires me every day.

From a young age, I imagined myself studying in a U.S. high school, appearing in a yearbook, and serving in the ROTC or the Armed Forces. These dreams seemed unattainable, especially for a boy from a poor background in Latin America, Brazil, but they fueled my determination. Even when people laughed at my ambitions, I found strength in their doubt. I knew that I could serve in the U.S. military—all I needed was a green card, as stated in many letters I wrote to the American consulate. I knew I could, but I lacked the support.
I even volunteered for the Iraq War and received a letter from the Consul saying that it was possible. However, by the time I would have reached there, the war would likely be over. In fact, it took much longer than he had expected. I was so organized, so focused, and so informed at the time that all I needed was someone to see my goal and support me, but no one appeared.

At 21, after facing multiple U.S. visa denials, I decided to pursue my dreams through a different path. I ventured to Europe, starting in Portugal and later moving to England, where I began building a career in hospitality. I worked with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, sailing between Norway and Denmark, and eventually completed a bartending course in England. This step led me to join Carnival Cruise Line, finally fulfilling my lifelong dream of reaching the United States.

Throughout my career, I worked with some of the most prestigious companies in the world, including Disney Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Pullmantur Cruises, and the Dorchester Hotel in London. My roles ranged across hotels, restaurants, bars, and events, each experience enriching my expertise in the international hospitality industry.

When I returned to Brazil in 2009, I discovered my passion for teaching. I began working as an English teacher at some of the country’s most renowned schools. Over time, I realized I had a natural ability to connect with students and guide them to achieve their goals. Teaching became my mission, and in 2014, I founded my own language school. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic forced me to close the school, but the lessons I learned through this challenge reignited my determination to rebuild and keep moving forward.

I’ve spent years teaching English and Portuguese with tailored methodologies to meet the diverse needs of my students. My teaching style is rooted in my own journey as a self-taught learner, making me deeply empathetic toward those who face challenges in their learning paths.

In addition to teaching, I’ve used my international experience to consult in hospitality and prepare professionals for global opportunities. My extensive background includes not only working in the tourism and hospitality sectors but also guiding individuals in programs like Work & Travel, au pair, cruise ship placements, and job opportunities in Dubai, as well as assisting with international exchange programs, high school admissions abroad, university enrollment, and partnering with cruise line companies for hiring.

Life has taught me the value of perseverance and humility. These lessons inspire my work as an educator and mentor, helping others believe in their potential. Today, at 59, I continue to dream. I aim to rebuild the school I lost, support my 83-year-old mother, find love, and use my experience to connect Brazilian talent with international opportunities.

I believe my story is proof that no matter how challenging life can be, with effort, resilience, and faith, we can overcome obstacles and inspire others to do the same. Teaching is not just my profession; it is my purpose. Every day, I strive to make a difference in my students’ lives, helping them discover their potential. Through patience and understanding, I encourage them to believe in themselves. I hope my journey serves as a reminder that no dream is too big if you’re willing to work for it. Ultimately, it’s about making a lasting impact on those around me, and showing that growth is always possible.

Once Said...

You Give Me...

A Uniform and Number On My Back

I Give you the Guts.

Jackie Robinson once said, “You give me a uniform, you give me a number on my back, I’ll give you the guts,” and that’s exactly how I approach every opportunity. With years of international experience in hospitality and education, I’m passionate about connecting Brazilian talent with global opportunities. I want to be more than just a representative—I want to be someone you can trust to carry your vision forward here in Brazil.

I know what it takes to get things done. Whether it’s helping you find the right talent for Work & Travel programs, recruiting for cruise lines, or managing international exchanges, I can make the process smooth and effective. I’ve been where your candidates are, and I know how to guide them toward success while making sure your organization gets the results it needs.

If you give me the chance to be your liaison, your second office, or even just a trial agent in Brazil, I’ll dedicate myself to making this partnership a success. I’m ready to bring your vision to life here, one step at a time. Let’s make it happen together.

I Give you the Guts.

You Set the Stage,

I’ll Find the Stars.

“Just like Jackie Robinson was given the chance to prove himself,
“IF” I’m given the opportunity to become your partner, I won’t just do my best, I’ll go beyond what’s expected. I’ll make every moment count and show that I’m the right choice to work alongside you.”

My Wishes or Dreams Before I die...

Family - First Priority

Mother and Myself

My priority is caring for my 83-year-old mother, Dorothy (Dorotea in Portuguese), who is ill, while also dreaming of finding a loving partner to share my life with. I aim to buy a two-bedroom apartment, get my car back, and improve my health, especially my dental care. Since childhood, I’ve never had a natural, genuine smile. At 59, I’m focused on living fully and enjoying life’s moments. With the right opportunities and support, I’m determined to achieve these dreams.

Rebuilding My School

Business English Center

Another important goal for me is to rebuild my school, which I lost due to the challenges brought by the pandemic. Reclaiming that dream and continuing to teach and guide students is something I am committed to and working towards every day.

Agent Partner

International Agent Partner

I dream of finding a potential partner—an agency that will give me the opportunity to represent them here in Brazil. With my experience and passion for connecting talent with global opportunities, I am eager to work closely with agencies who want to expand their reach and impact in this market. If given the chance, I will dedicate myself fully to building a strong partnership that benefits both of us.

Partner

Welcome to Florianopolis - Santa Catarina - Brazil

As a partner, I am fully committed to providing the best possible support to your agency. Even though I am a prospective agent, if any of your team members, students, or contacts ever visit Brazil, I will be here to welcome them. Whether they are students, agents, friends, or members of your network, I am ready to assist in any way needed. From offering guidance to simply ensuring their stay is comfortable, I will be available to make their visit to Brazil as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Humble, Compassion,

and Empathy

Empowering Children and Students to Succeed

I believe in the power of kindness and the importance of helping others whenever I can. My goal is to support people in need, whether by offering a helping hand, listening to their struggles, or creating opportunities for a better life. I’m especially passionate about helping children and students who need support to study. But scholarships and learning opportunities, like those for Portuguese or English, can only become a reality once I start partnering with others who share this vision. I know that true impact comes from collaboration with partners around the world, those who care and understand the importance of lifting others up. I want to be the person who makes others feel seen, heard, and valued. Together, we can make a real difference. Life is about supporting one another, and I’m committed to showing compassion and care for everyone I meet, building connections that lead to a kinder, more supportive world.

My Motto

I Connect Talent with Global Opportunities.

Let’s Grow Together
